I went into this purchase with the usual level of optimism reserved for products that make impressive promises on the internet: cautiously enthusiastic and fully prepared to be disappointed.

Then the Zeus Ion Pro showed up.

After using it for a few weeks, I have to admit something rather inconvenient: this thing is actually good.

The first thing that impressed me was the size. It feels substantial and solid without being unnecessarily bulky. Then there is the display, which may be one of my favorite features. It is intuitive, easy to understand, and actually provides useful information instead of simply existing because somebody decided the product needed a screen.

And then there is the battery life.

Holy lithium-ion, Batman.

This thing charges quickly and lasts a remarkably long time. I’m talking several days of sessions between charges. That means considerably less time hunting for a charging cable and considerably more time actually using the device. I appreciate that arrangement.

The cartridge illumination is another feature I didn't realize I would appreciate as much as I do. It is unique, but more importantly, it is genuinely useful. It adds functionality rather than simply adding another blinking light to the universe.

And the design and feel of the Ion Pro are exceptional. This is one of those products where you can tell that somebody paid attention to the details. The design is extremely well thought out, the build quality is excellent, and the entire unit exudes meticulous attention to detail in both design and manufacturing.

The magnetic attachment is another welcomed improvement. It makes the whole experience more efficient and convenient, eliminating unnecessary fumbling and making attachment and removal quick and effortless.

After spending some time with it, I find myself appreciating all the little decisions that went into making this thing. It doesn't feel like a product that was assembled from a list of features. It feels designed.

That's a distinction worth noticing.

So, congratulations, Zeus. You have managed to accomplish something I didn't expect: you made me enthusiastically recommend a product that I initially approached with a healthy dose of skepticism.

This thing is really a dream to use and looks like a classy lighter! Killer!!!

ZEUS ION PRO opens up a whole new world of possibilities for me as ordinarily a user of DYNAVAP HYPERDYN and POTV LOBO for vaping freshly ground flowers. I only use the 510 concentrates when I want to be a bit more stealthy.

When I use the ION PRO, I no longer have to sacrifice the aromatic flavors of terpenes nor forfeit the silkiness of my smooth clouds in exchange for the extreme portability and stealth of a 510 cart.

With the ION PRO, no exaggerations, my carts actually taste delicious! The same carts I was using on my VESSEL Craftsman that gave me no gastronomical satisfaction is now bursting with flavors and subtle notes I had not experienced before.

The smart little chip inside the unit seems to know just what to do to optimize everything for me. ION PRO also allows me to control my voltage in 0.1 increments, so I can really hone in on exactly what I’m after, and it will consistently give me that result to the last precious drop.

I also noticed my carts are lasting longer compared to any of the other vape batteries I’ve owned. I think the little chip might be optimizing the usage based on my voltage? This means no more clogged carts to power-suck on, no more flooding and no more goopy threads to clean between carts, and no more burnt metal and ceramic taste in those last few drops that can give me an ever-after of putrid aftertaste.

Other aspects I like:

- tiny!
- stylish (despite lack of color options)
- built with heft
- easy to load carts
- no convoluted menu in the LCD
- easy to charge

Kudos to the designers and engineers at ZEUS for getting this device right and resolving all of the annoyances we felt about vape batteries. To call this gadget a vape battery feels like disservice.

$100 worth it? I absolutely think so. Each cart can cost me $30-60; the ingredients I order are indulgences! I’m happy to spend $100 to ensure it does a perfect job every single time and that it won’t ruin my carts or experience.
